According to Naija News, the highly anticipated coronation will solidify Oba Owoade’s position as the custodian of Yoruba cultural heritage. Preparations for the grand occasion are already in full swing, with committees comprising representatives from the Alaafin’s palace and the Oyo State Government working tirelessly to ensure a flawless ceremony.

In the lead-up to his coronation, Oba Owoade will participate in traditional seclusion rites, known as Alaafin Rituals, designed to prepare him spiritually and physically for his esteemed role as the guardian of Yoruba traditions.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State had approved Oba Owoade’s nomination on January 10, 2025. The governor formally presented the monarch with the staff and instruments of office on January 13, marking the commencement of his reign.
