Katsina Villagers Saved: Police Stop Bandits, Recover 100+ Stolen Animals

The Katsina State Police Command successfully repelled an attack by bandits in Ruwan Doruwa village, Dutsinma Local Government Area, killing seven assailants. According to reports, the Command recovered 61 cows, 44 sheep, two donkeys, a goat, and a dog abandoned by the fleeing bandits.

A statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, revealed that the armed bandits, equipped with dangerous weapons including AK-47 rifles, launched the attack on Saturday.

“On January 18, 2025, at about 0900 hrs, a distress call was received at the Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters that suspected armed bandits were attacking Ruwan Doruwa village in Dutsinma LGA, Katsina State,” the statement read.

In response, the Divisional Police Officer, in collaboration with the military, DSS, members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KTSCWC), and local vigilantes, mobilized to the scene. Upon arrival, the team engaged the bandits in a fierce gunfight, neutralizing seven of the attackers. The remaining bandits escaped with injuries, leaving behind the stolen animals.

The State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar Musa, praised the operatives for their bravery, professionalism, and valor during the operation. He also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of residents.

Musa called on the public to support the Command by providing timely and accurate information to aid in the fight against crime and criminality in the state.
