In a video posted to his official Facebook page, Adeboye confirmed that the fasting period will begin on January 11 and end on April 21, 2025, under the theme “RCCG FAST 2025.”

The announcement was made during the first Holy Ghost Night of the new year, held in the early hours of January 4. Adeboye outlined the purpose of the fast, stating that the first 30 days will focus specifically on prayer for Nigeria’s well-being.

However, Adeboye advised church members over the age of 70 to consider their health when participating in the fast. Those aged 70 to 80 were encouraged to break their fast at 3 pm, while those over 80 should break their fast at noon. For individuals aged 90 and above, the pastor advised against fasting entirely, referencing their advanced age.

The RCCG leader emphasized that fasting should not be undertaken without prayer, warning that without a spiritual commitment, fasting would simply become a “hunger strike.” He further shared that, although he would personally undertake a significant portion of the fast, his leadership would ensure his health and strength through continuous fasting.

Adeboye concluded by urging the congregation to avoid unnecessary conversations during the fasting period and promised that 2025 would be a transformative year for Nigeria, drawing inspiration from the scripture, “The kingdom of God suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.”
