The violent incident occurred when the new Imam attempted to lead the Jummat prayers, triggering the altercation. The monarch, who sustained significant injuries, was rushed to a hospital in Osogbo for treatment.

Governor Adeleke expressed his shock and disapproval over the attack and immediately called for swift action from law enforcement. In an official statement, he instructed the Commissioner of Police to secure the area and apprehend the culprits. He emphasized that violence in resolving disputes would not be tolerated, pledging that all responsible individuals would face the full wrath of the law.

Through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke stressed the importance of peaceful conflict resolution and instructed the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to initiate efforts for peacebuilding in collaboration with security agencies. He also called on the Olojudo of Ido Osun to help restore order and prevent further unrest.

The Governor urged communities with grievances to approach the relevant government bodies for resolution, reiterating that violence would never be a sanctioned method of dispute settlement.
