Abducted Reverends In Anambra Released Unharmed

while returning from a vocational association meeting in Ogboji. Their release was confirmed in a statement by Sister Maria Ikeotuonye, Secretary General of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, who expressed gratitude for their unconditional release and good health.

The Anambra State Police Command has acknowledged the release but has yet to provide further details. SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the command’s spokesman, stated that the police are awaiting a briefing from the victims to ascertain the circumstances of their abduction and release.

This incident highlights ongoing security concerns in Anambra State, where residents have expressed fears over rising kidnappings and violent attacks. The swift release of the Reverend Sisters has been linked to the state’s newly introduced “Operation Udo Ga Achi” initiative, championed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
