The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Misa Musa Jauro of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Ganye Constituency bye-election in Adamawa State.

According to iReporter Online, the returning officer, Prof. Tukur Ahmed, announced that Jauro secured 15,923 votes, narrowly defeating his closest rival from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 15,794 votes — a slim margin of 129 votes.

iReporter Online reports that the election, conducted across 10 wards, was highly competitive and regarded as one of the most closely contested in recent times.

The results showed a split victory between APC and PDP across different wards, with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), headed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, performing poorly despite his stronghold in the area.

With this outcome, Jauro’s victory affirms APC’s dominance in this high-stakes by-election.

Observers also noted a concerning trend regarding Atiku Abubakar’s presidential ambitions, highlighting that his home base was heavily contested and that the ADC was significantly overshadowed by the APC and PDP, indicating challenges for his broader political aspirations.
