Army Chief Launches New Operation To End Plateau Killings (PHOTOS)

Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, initiated Operation Hakorin Damisa on Saturday, with the aim of putting an end to the ongoing violence and security challenges in Plateau State.

During his visit to Mangu, Major General Lagbaja emphasized the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to combatting the criminals responsible for terrorizing communities in the Mangu Local Government Area and other parts of the state.

To tackle the security challenges in the affected regions of Mangu, Riyom, and Barkin-Ladi local government areas, Major General Lagbaja officially launched activities for troops under Operation Hakorin Damisa IV. These troops form part of the Joint Security Task Force, Operation Safe Haven, assembled for an emergency response.

While addressing the troops, the Army chief issued a stern warning, urging them to strictly adhere to the rules of engagement while carrying out their duties.

He also appealed to citizens residing in the affected areas to collaborate with the troops and provide vital information to aid in the operation’s success.

The special operation squad consists of 300 troops, supported by seven Mines Resistance Armoured Personnel Vehicles, Motorcycles, Buffaloes Patrol Vehicles, and Armoured Personnel Vehicles.

Recently, Plateau State has witnessed numerous killings, particularly in the Mangu area, perpetrated by gunmen. With the launch of Operation Hakorin Damisa, authorities hope to curb this escalating violence and restore peace and security to the region.
