Why Subsidy Must Go And Remain So -Tinubu Is A sincere Leader By Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah

Enough is enough! It’s time for every Nigerian to set aside their differences and look at the bigger picture regarding the removal of fuel subsidy. This bold move holds numerous benefits for our nation.

With the subsidy gone, Nigeria stands to gain immensely, paving the way for a brighter and more prosperous future.

To begin with, the subsidy system was plagued with corruption, as 70% of it was merely a scam, much like the questionable FOREX window of the past.

Critics may question Tinubu’s actions, but they fail to see the bigger picture. By removing the subsidy, Tinubu has demonstrated his commitment to bettering our country.

A corrupt leader would have kept the subsidy intact and continued to exploit the system for personal gain. Instead, Tinubu chose transparency and accountability, putting the welfare of the nation above all else.

When hearing naysayers label Tinubu as corrupt, one can’t help but wonder about their motives. If Tinubu were truly corrupt, he could have easily manipulated the subsidy system to enrich himself and his associates. Instead, he bravely tackled the issue head-on, eliminating any room for corruption and manipulation.

In the absence of fuel subsidy, the financial resources available to governors have multiplied exponentially, and these are the arm of government closer to  the grassroots than ever before. As the federal government implements various measures, it becomes imperative for us to demand that our governors follow suit.

Gone are the days of turning a blind eye to hypocrisy, where governors enriched themselves while claiming a lack of funds. Now, a new era beckons, calling for a focus on empowering the people and promoting widespread development.

With this newfound wealth, governors should prioritize investing in education by providing bursaries and scholarships, as well as offering loans to budding entrepreneurs. Moreover, their efforts should extend to opening new cities and fostering growth in the informal sectors, including entertainment, sports, and the thriving digital economy, which holds enormous potential as a modern-day gold mine.

By urging our governors to adopt such progressive measures, we can collectively work towards creating a brighter future for our communities and nurturing a more inclusive and prosperous nation.

This is the moment for us to demand accountability from both the State and Federal governments. As citizens, we must actively participate in ensuring those responsible for our grassroots development and emancipation are transparent in their actions and provide a clear account of their stewardship.

Regarding Tinubu’s bold move in removing the subsidy that has hindered our growth, he should now have the courage to face Nigerians and alleviate their sufferings. As the saying goes, “To whom much is given, much is expected.” Tinubu has taken a significant step, and now it’s time for him to impress the nation by addressing the challenges and hardships faced by the people.
