Atiku Tops Amaechi, Hayatu-Deen In Early ADC Results

According to Ireporter Online, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has secured an early advantage in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary election after recording victories in five states.

The ongoing contest, which is being conducted nationwide to determine the party’s flagbearer for the 2027 general elections, features Atiku Abubakar, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.

Although the ADC national leadership is yet to officially release the final collated results from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, partial figures emerging from several states indicate that Atiku is maintaining a commanding lead.

Reports show that the former vice president clinched victories in Gombe, Abia, Ebonyi, Sokoto, and Zamfara states.

In Gombe State, results announced by the Returning Officer, Prof. David Agbu, revealed that Atiku polled 139,334 votes, while Amaechi received 1,150 votes and Hayatu-Deen secured 464 votes.

In Abia State, Atiku also emerged winner with 25,153 votes, ahead of Amaechi, who garnered 18,339 votes, while Hayatu-Deen scored 3,264 votes.

In Ebonyi State, figures released by ADC National Vice Chairman (Diaspora), Fred Onwe, showed Atiku leading with 15,300 votes. Amaechi polled 2,200 votes, while Hayatu-Deen recorded 200 votes.

In Sokoto State, Atiku secured 68,823 votes, with Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen polling 292 and 319 votes respectively.

In Zamfara State, Atiku again came top with 60,500 votes, while Hayatu-Deen scored 436 votes and Amaechi 191 votes.

The ADC primary is widely viewed as a key measure of strength within Nigeria’s opposition bloc, as political realignments continue ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Atiku, a former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), remains a dominant figure in opposition politics, while Amaechi has centered his campaign on institutional reforms and internal party democracy. Hayatu-Deen, on the other hand, has emphasized economic restructuring and private-sector-driven growth.

Party officials are expected to announce the final consolidated results following the completion of collation from all states and the FCT.
