Atiku’s Team, Journalists, Passengers stranded as Jos Airport shuts down

Hundreds of PDP members were stranded at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Jos, Plateau State’s capital, moments after the party’s presidential campaign rally in the state concluded on Tuesday.

The PDP’s National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, as well as security personnel working directly with the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and journalists, were also stranded.

Shortly after the rally, Atiku and the PDP Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) were reportedly driven to the airport.

However, the PDP candidate and some top party members reportedly boarded and left the state about 30 minutes later.

However, the airport tower signal went out shortly afterwards. It was learned that an aircraft about to land was unable to land and was forced to return.

The staff received instructions to close the facility at 5:30 p.m., claiming that the PDP had not requested an extension of time.

Some PDP members claimed that this was politically motivated, citing a PDP member, Justice Abraham, accusing the All Progressives Congress, APC of wrongdoing.
