Baby Factory Exposed: Imo Police Arrest 125, Including Drug-Dealing Couples And Human Traffickers!

This achievement was highlighted in a press release issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Henry Okoye. The statement credited the success to the diligent efforts of the officers in combating crime across the state.

One notable breakthrough mentioned was the seizure of 500kg of cannabis sativa from a couple involved in the illegal drug trade. According to the release, an intelligence-led raid on June 27, 2024, at a suspected criminal hideout in Ofuzor Afor Egbu, Owerri North LGA, resulted in the arrest of Stanley Joseph Onyebuchi (45) and Ngozi Joseph (35). The operatives also recovered nine bags of suspected cannabis sativa, crystal meth, other hard drugs, and a Toyota Sienna (Reg No: FST 39 GY) used for distribution.

Additionally, three other suspects, identified as Ihegeme Williams (27), Micheal Ifeanyi (32), and Chidera Gerald (27), were apprehended at the same location. During interrogation, the couple admitted to dealing in hard drugs as a quick way to wealth. They, along with the other suspects, will be arraigned in court after the investigation is completed.

In another significant operation, the police discovered a baby factory operating under the guise of an orphanage home in World Bank, Owerri. The raid, led by operatives from Shell Camp Divisional Headquarters, resulted in the rescue of eight pregnant teenagers and the arrest of the operators, Mr. Chukwudinma Umunnakwe and his wife Comfort.

Commissioner Danjuma assured the public of the Command’s commitment to eradicating criminal activities in the state. He urged citizens to support security operatives by reporting any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.
