Crown Crackdown: Ondo State Vows To Jail Local Chiefs In Regal Dispute! The Ondo state government has issued a stern warning to minor traditional chiefs, threatening to arrest and imprison any who wear beaded crowns for up to three years. This announcement was made by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Amidu Takuro, on Tuesday in Akure.

Takuro emphasized that existing state laws prohibit local chiefs who are not “Obas” from donning beaded crowns. He expressed frustration that some chiefs have been disregarding these traditional and legal regulations.

“The state will do everything possible to protect the integrity, image, and importance of its traditional institution,” Takuro asserted. He reiterated that the law clearly forbids anyone who is not an Oba from wearing a beaded crown.

“Traditional institutions are highly cherished and valued. We are committed to safeguarding the integrity, image, and significance of these institutions. Any minor chief who defies this directive will face trial and could be sentenced to two or three years in prison,” he stated.
