Birthday Celebration Turns Violent as Port Harcourt Realtor Allegedly Assaults Young Women at Nightclub
Two young women have alleged they were physically assaulted and stripped by a prominent Port Harcourt realtor, Maduba Okechi Christian, during a birthday celebration at Blacbox nightclub in Rivers State. The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Thursday and has sparked public outrage after the victims shared video evidence online.
One of the victims, Thonia Okoye, said she had reserved a table at the club for ₦200,000 to celebrate her birthday with friends. Trouble started when Maduba, identified as the CEO of Ceemore Group of Companies, allegedly approached their table, made unwelcome advances, and objected to a video being recorded. According to Okoye, the situation escalated when he and his bodyguards began breaking bottles, attacking the group, and dragging her down the stairs where she was stripped and severely beaten.
Another victim, Juliet Obasi, who traveled from Owerri for the celebration, claimed Maduba smashed a bottle on her head, causing heavy bleeding and requiring urgent medical attention. She further alleged that another friend lost a tooth during the attack.
The victims criticized the club’s management and security for failing to intervene, accusing them of siding with the powerful businessman. Obasi expressed her frustration over the culture of impunity, lamenting that women without male companions are often targeted for harassment.
The victims have since filed a report with the Olu Obasanjo Divisional Police Station and are demanding access to the club’s CCTV footage as part of their pursuit of justice.
Social media users have condemned the incident, calling for the arrest and prosecution of the realtor. Many questioned the silence of the authorities and the club’s management, while also encouraging the victims to escalate the case to the Rivers State Commissioner of Police.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Command confirmed that both the suspect and the nightclub’s manager had been invited for questioning. The club’s owner, Greatcool Ejekwu (aka Datfairboy), denounced the attack and claimed he had filed a petition with law enforcement authorities.
As of the time of this report, efforts to contact Maduba Okechi Christian for comments were unsuccessful.
