According to Ireporter Online, the 38 members of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State who were kidnapped have regained their freedom. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq confirmed their release on Sunday through a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye.

The governor credited the successful rescue to President Bola Tinubu’s decisive intervention, noting that the President personally coordinated efforts that led to the safe return of the abducted worshippers. The statement revealed that President Tinubu cancelled his scheduled trip to the G20 Meeting in South Africa to focus on security breaches in Kwara and Kebbi States, subsequently ordering increased security deployments to the affected areas.

Governor AbdulRazaq expressed profound gratitude to the President, emphasising that the swift federal response demonstrated a strong commitment to the protection of citizens. He also commended the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Intelligence Agency, and the Nigeria Police Force, which deployed four additional tactical teams to Kwara following presidential directives.

He further appreciated security personnel across all agencies, community leaders, religious bodies and residents of Kwara State for their support and solidarity throughout the ordeal.
