BREAKING: Atiku, Obi In Trouble As APC Ask AGF To Investigate Both For ‘Treason’ (DETAILS)
The All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, has urged the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, to investigate leading opposition figures, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, regarding their statements on the alleged forgery of President Bola Tinubu’s academic records.

The party contends that the AGF should scrutinize Atiku, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Mr. Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), for a potential case of treason due to their remarks concerning Mr. Tinubu’s academic records released by the Chicago State University (CSU).

Ajibola Bashiru, the national secretary of the APC, made this request during an interview on Channels TV on Wednesday.
President Tinubu was the APC’s candidate in the presidential election held on February 25. INEC declared him the winner, with Atiku, Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the NNPP coming second, third, and fourth, respectively.

Mr. Bashiru, a former law lecturer and senator, believes that the comments made by Atiku and Mr. Obi potentially constitute a case of treason that warrants investigation by the attorney general.
“I think they are descending into the arena, and I think it is high time that the attorney general of the federation will look into whether their actions do not amount to treason. It is a prima facie of treason,” he stated.
The call for an investigation comes shortly after Mr. Obi called on the president to address the nation regarding his true identity.
The APC’s request is expected to raise controversy because the AGF is an appointee of President Tinubu. Additionally, Mr. Fagbemi was a member of the legal team for the ruling party at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal before his appointment as AGF.
Atiku and Mr. Obi are currently at the Supreme Court, where they are challenging the tribunal’s ruling.
Mr. Tinubu has been embroiled in a longstanding dispute over his education certificate, specifically his CSU certificate obtained in 1979.
Last week, CSU provided Atiku’s legal team with Mr. Tinubu’s academic records, in compliance with a U.S. court ruling in a suit filed by the PDP candidate requesting the institution to do so.
The following day, CSU Registrar, Caleb Westberg, provided further details on the released documents in a deposition at the court.
Atiku, a former vice president, subsequently held a press conference in Abuja, urging the president to take the honorable path by resigning. He also called on Mr. Obi and the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, to join him in the fight.
The PDP candidate has since sought permission from the Supreme Court, where he is appealing the judgment of the PEPC, to present the documents to the court.
