BREAKING: Court Sends EFCC Chairman To Kuje Prison (DETAILS)
Abdulrasheed Bawa, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has been sentenced to prison for the second time for contempt.
On Monday, February 6, a Kogi State High Court presided over by Justice R.O. Ayoola granted an application for Bawa’s committal to prison for disobeying a court ruling.
The judge ordered that Bawa be detained for 14 days at Kuje Prison in the Federal Capital Territory by Inspector General of Police Alkali Baba until he cleansed himself of the contempt.

The judge issued the arrest warrant for Bawa for failing to comply with a court ruling issued on November 30, 2022, in which the EFCC chairman was ordered to produce an applicant in the case, Ali Bello.
Bello had asked the court to stop the EFCC from illegally arresting and detaining him.
The court ruled in his favor, only for the EFCC to arraign him three days later for alleged money laundering.
The court ordered that the EFCC and Bawa be served with the motion for notice and Form 49 through alternate means.
Bawa and the Commission were also ordered to apologize in a national newspaper to Bello. The applicant was awarded N10 million in compensation by the court.
On November 8, a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama sentenced Bawa to prison for contempt of court.
Justice Chizoba Oji, the judge, convicted Bawa and ordered the Inspector General of Police to remand him in Kuje Prison for disobeying an earlier court order.
