JUST IN: Buhari Makes Fresh Appointment

President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Dr. Duke Okoro as the first Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Orogun in Delta State’s Ughelli North LGA on Monday.

The Federal Polytechnic, Orogun, was proposed by Senate Deputy President Ovie Omo-Agege and approved by the National Assembly.

President Buhari, the commander in chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, later signed the law.

The President carefully considered and approved Okoro’s appointment as the institution’s first Rector.

Okoro was the Director of International Development at Effurun, Delta State’s Federal University of Petroleum Resources.

In 2004, he received his PhD in Environmental Analytical Chemistry from the prestigious University of Benin. Fellow of the Chemical Society of Nigeria (FCSN); Fellow of the Nigerian Environmental Society (FNES); Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (FICCON); Fellow Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC).

Among other things, the newly appointed rector is a member of the Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria (MIPAN), the Chemical Profession of Alberta, Canada (PChem), and the Environmental Careers Organization, Canada (EP).
