The NCE, the ultimate body responsible for shaping public service policy, brought together key officials, including the Heads of Service from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This meeting, following a critical two-day technical session, was a turning point in reshaping the country’s public service compensation framework.

During this high-level discussion, a total of 32 memoranda were reviewed. Out of these, 6 were approved, while 8 were deferred, 6 were outrightly rejected, and the remaining were referred to further committees.

The most notable change is the sweeping approval to raise the allowances for public officers, a move that will significantly alter the compensation landscape. A detailed review of the Schemes of Service is also underway, ensuring that the latest decisions are fully reflected.
