Breaking: Former Lawmaker Quits PDP, Joins ADC
According to Ireporter Online, former House of Representatives member Eta Mbora has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), strengthening the opposition party ahead of the upcoming election cycle. Mbora, who represented Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency in the 9th National Assembly, made the announcement on Thursday in Calabar, Cross River State.
The lawmaker cited ongoing internal crises within the PDP as the main reason for his departure, noting that these issues have significantly weakened the party’s structure. He described leaving the party as a difficult decision but stressed that it had become unavoidable.
“I remain grateful to the PDP for the opportunities it afforded me to serve at the local government, state, and national levels,” Mbora stated. He also expressed his gratitude to his supporters and political associates for their continued loyalty over the years and encouraged them to join him in participating in the ADC’s ongoing registration and revalidation exercise across their wards.
Mbora’s defection is part of a broader trend of political realignments in Cross River State as the election season approaches. The move comes shortly after similar exits by former Governor Liyel Imoke and former Senator Gershom Bassey from the PDP to the ADC. The party is reportedly planning a reception rally to formally welcome Mbora and other new members into its fold.
