BREAKING: How Gunmen Attacked Catholic Church, Owo Killing At Least 50 During Service (Fresh Facts)

Gunmen on Sunday attacked St  Francis Catholic Church, Owaluwa, in Owo Local Government Area of  Ondo state, killing scores of worshipers

When the source (This Day) visited the scene of the incident, it was observed that the gunmen used dynamites to blow the altar of the church while the service was going on.

Parts of the altar POP caved in as the gunmen shot many worshipers.

An eyewitness, Kehinde Ogunkorode, told This Day that no fewer than 50 persons were killed by the gunmen.
Blood stains litter the floor of the church as corpses were moved to the Federal Medical Centre and St Louis Catholic Hospital, Owo.

Many who were injured in the incident have also been rushed to the hospital.

Another eyewitness Ikechukwu Eze told This Day that ” Immediately I heard gunshots, I smartly escaped through the fence. The gunmen were up to 10 in number”.

He added that security men who later came to the scene of the incident were chased away by the angry people.
The Catholic Bishop of Ondo, Jude Arogundada, was seen at the scene but refused to speak with journalists.
