BREAKING: ‘My Work Is Done’ — Starmer Quits As UK Prime Minister

According to IREPORTER ONLINE, Starmer announced his resignation on Monday during an emotional farewell address outside 10 Downing Street, where he reflected on his administration and expressed appreciation to the British people for the opportunity to serve.

The outgoing prime minister said he was leaving office with a deep sense of accomplishment, stating that he was proud of everything his government had achieved during its time in power. Following his farewell speech, Starmer travelled to Buckingham Palace, where he formally submitted his resignation to King Charles III.

Buckingham Palace later confirmed that the King accepted Starmer’s resignation after an official audience at the palace. The statement also noted that Lady Starmer was received by the monarch.

In line with constitutional procedure, King Charles III subsequently invited Andy Burnham, who was elected Labour Party leader on Friday, to form a new government, officially making him the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Burnham is expected to deliver his inaugural address outside 10 Downing Street before unveiling members of his cabinet.

As the new administration begins to take shape, one of the first major developments was the resignation of Prisons Minister Lord Timpson on Monday, signalling the start of broader changes expected under Burnham’s government as he moves to appoint key officials and restructure his administration.
