Oluyede’s confirmation comes after he was appointed as the Acting COAS by President Bola Tinubu, following the unfortunate passing of his predecessor, Taoreed Lagbaja, who had been ill.

Oluyede’s confirmation was preceded by a screening process conducted by the joint committee on Army and Defence, which took place on Wednesday. The confirmation letter, read by Speaker Abbas during Tuesday’s plenary session, was part of President Tinubu’s formal request to have Oluyede confirmed as the substantive Army Chief.
