Eight suspects have been apprehended in connection to the recent killing of two traditional rulers and the abduction of pupils in the state. The joint operation spanned through dense forests, involving a collaborative effort of police operatives, Amotekun corps, vigilantes, local hunters, and members of the Agbekoya Group.

Following the tragic incidents on January 29, where the Onimojo of Imojo and the Elesun of Esun Ekiti were killed, and pupils were abducted, the Ekiti State Police acted swiftly. The suspects were apprehended during an operation that traversed Emure-Ekiti Forest, Ise/Ogbese Forest, to Emure-Ile Forest in Ondo State. The operation’s success demonstrates the effectiveness of collaborative efforts in tackling crime.

The arrested suspects were named as Yaya Sumaila, Idrisu Abubakar, Hassan Abudullahi, Abudullahi Abudullahi, Haruna Abubakar, Usman Abudullahi, Haruna Sule, and Babusa Alhaji Lede, who was apprehended inside Ayedun/Ayebode Ekiti forest in the Ikole Area. Exhibits recovered from the suspects include a cow, three cutlasses, an axe, a dagger, and various food items.

The arrested suspects are currently undergoing investigation, and law enforcement authorities are optimistic about obtaining valuable information that may lead to the apprehension of other perpetrators. The Police Public Relations Officer, Abutu Sunday, emphasized the commitment of the Command to ensure that all those involved face the full wrath of the law. The public is urged to remain calm and support the police by providing credible and timely information to aid ongoing efforts against criminal elements in the state
