According to DSP Sunday Abutu, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, the factory was operating without the necessary permits and licenses, making its operations illegal. The Ministry of Environment had previously sealed off the factory after discovering that the water used in production came from an abandoned well, posing health risks to consumers.

Samuel Adebayo, the leader of the team that sealed off the factory, emphasized the potential for an epidemic due to such unhygienic practices, prompting urgent action. He highlighted several violations of sachet water production standards and requirements observed at the factory.

Commissioner Tosin Aluko of the Environment and Natural Resources department condemned the factory’s illegal operations, citing a blatant disregard for public health and safety regulations. The closure of A1 Pure Water serves as a stern warning to other businesses in the state to adhere strictly to environmental standards.
