The Presidency has maintained that the northern region remains confident in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership and policy direction.

In a recent interview on a national television programme, the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, stated that the North is “extremely comfortable” with the administration’s governance style. He emphasized that the President is tackling both immediate challenges and long-standing issues in the region through deliberate and strategic policy measures.

Bwala’s comments come amid remarks by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, who alleged that the North would work against President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, accusing the administration of sidelining the region in ongoing federal projects. Lawal claimed that northern political leaders were already strategizing on how to address these perceived grievances ahead of the next general election.

Responding to these allegations, Bwala asserted that there is a clear distinction between genuine public concerns and narratives driven by opposition politics. He further noted that recent economic indicators suggest improvement under the current administration’s policies, insisting that the President’s approach has been well-received across the North.
