The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has introduced new mandatory requirements for all online Business Name update requests, a policy that takes effect immediately.

According to Ireporter Online, the commission announced on its handle on December 10 that applicants will now need to provide additional personal and contact information to enhance verification and ensure the accuracy of business records.

Under the new guidelines, every Business Name Online Update submission must include the proprietor’s date of birth, registered office email, personal email, phone number for either the registered office or proprietor, and a valid form of identification, the commission stated.

The CAC explained that these measures form part of broader reforms designed to strengthen record integrity, prevent fraud, and facilitate seamless communication with registered business owners. The commission expects that requiring these additional details will streamline its database, simplify compliance checks, and provide more secure and efficient services to entrepreneurs nationwide.

Business owners are urged to follow the new guidelines closely to avoid delays in processing their applications. In recent years, the CAC has modernized its operations, transitioning from manual procedures to a fully online platform for business registration and updates.
