At the 2024 China-Africa Inter-Bank Association (CAIBA) Forum held in Abuja, First Bank Managing Director, Olusegun Alebiosu, emphasized the importance of the platform in supporting trade and socio-economic development. “The CAIBA platform recognizes the increasing economic collaboration between China and Africa, as Chinese firms contribute significantly to infrastructure and economic growth across the continent. Likewise, many African businesses rely on Chinese partners for raw materials and finished goods,” Alebiosu stated.
He further highlighted the forum’s theme, “Joining Hands to Advance Modernization and Strengthening China-Africa Trade, Industrialization, and Economic Diversification,” as a call for stronger financial ties to boost trade and economic transformation for both regions.
CBN Director of Banking Supervision, Mr. Adetona Adedeji, assured participants of the apex bank’s support in fostering robust financial relationships between the two nations to drive strategic partnerships and growth.
