Gbajabiamila attributed the rumors to detractors eager to undermine his progress, reflecting on his journey from Minority Whip to Majority Leader, then Speaker, and now to his current position. He suggested that his political journey has led some to fear his continued rise, sparking unfounded speculation about his future plans.

Addressing the issue head-on, Gbajabiamila explained, “I am not thinking about the governorship right now. There’s still time left in my tenure, and my focus remains on serving the president in my capacity as Chief of Staff. The talk about me running for governor is premature and baseless.”

He also emphasized that the speculation was fueled by those hoping to derail his momentum, adding that the timing for such a transition is far off. “As for the governorship, it’s not yet time. The decision will be in God’s hands,” he stated.
