Former Lagos State lawmaker, Hon. Olusola Sokunle, has dismissed the viability of any political coalition aiming to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Sokunle, who represented Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly from 2015 to 2023, shared his perspective during a media briefing on Thursday. Reacting to recent reports of an emerging alliance among opposition figures from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party, Sokunle described such efforts as futile.

“We’ve seen talks about a coalition of opposition leaders attempting to challenge President Tinubu in 2027, and frankly, I find it laughable. I am confident that he will secure re-election with ease,” he said.

He continued, “No alliance or gang-up will succeed against the President. He is performing admirably, and Nigerians can see that. His political experience and strategic depth far outweigh the efforts of those attempting to join forces against him.”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain further argued that historically, many coalitions aimed at unseating incumbent governments have failed, and he believes this latest attempt will follow the same path.

“There’s nothing wrong with political groups coming together, but let me be clear: their gathering is not divinely inspired, and for that reason, it is bound to fail,” Sokunle added.

He concluded by noting that President Tinubu’s achievements since taking office in 2023 have earned him widespread public approval and ongoing support across the country.
