Cultists Shoot Student During Exam In Delta Poly
Cultists on Tuesday invaded Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, in Aniocha South LGA, shooting a student during the first semester examinations.
It was gathered the incident disrupted examinations of Higher National Diploma (HND) and National Diploma (ND) students for almost an hour.
The victim, whose name could not be ascertained, was shot in the chest region.
The Nation gathered the student was rushed to the school healthcare centre.
He was later moved to the Ogwashi-Uku General Hospital, it was learnt.
The incident occurred around 11:30 am when the first paper in the exams was being written.
The Nation gathered many of the students who fled the examination halls during the incident.
The suspected cultists said to be numbering about ten, shot the student in front of one of the halls before escaping.
The students, it was learnt, returned to their exam halls after normalcy was restored.
Delta Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, saying “the student is alive receiving medical treatment.”
