Dalung: Most ADC Members Have Broken Their Oaths
Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has revealed that founding members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition made a solemn commitment at the inception of the alliance, pledging to prioritize Nigeria’s interests above personal ambitions.
According to reports, Dalung made the disclosure during an interview on Mic On Podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, where he reflected on the current state of the coalition and the internal challenges confronting it.
He explained that members had collectively agreed and taken an oath to remain committed to the coalition’s objectives rather than pursue individual political gains. However, he expressed disappointment that many of those who made the pledge have failed to uphold it.
Dalung maintained that although the coalition remains in existence, it has lost much of the strength and unity that characterized its early days due to growing personal ambitions among its members.
Addressing the controversies surrounding the ADC, the former minister stated that disagreements within political alliances are inevitable, adding that anyone expecting a coalition to be free from internal conflicts is being unrealistic.
He lamented that the coalition’s founding principle of collective national interest has gradually been overshadowed by personal aspirations, a development he described as the major factor weakening the alliance.
Dalung emphasized that he remains committed to the original oath and insisted that loyalty to the coalition’s shared vision, rather than individual interests, was the foundation upon which the alliance was built.
