The Defence Headquarters has strongly denied the circulating claims on social media, which suggest that the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) have been approached with a request to change the nation’s leadership.

In an earlier statement, the Defence Headquarters made it clear that the AFN has not, at any point, received, entertained, or made any declaration of this nature to any individual or group.

The military expressed concern about the spread of misinformation, attributing it to individuals seeking to destabilize the nation.

The statement firmly reiterated the AFN’s position on the issue, emphasizing their unwavering commitment to democracy.

The military assured the public of their loyalty to His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who serves as the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Additionally, the military reaffirmed their dedication to safeguarding the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Defence Headquarters cautioned those disseminating such misleading narratives to immediately cease their actions or face legal consequences. They warned that the military, in collaboration with other security agencies, is actively monitoring the situation and will take action against any threats to national stability.

The statement, signed by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, urged Nigerians to unite in their commitment to strengthening the nation’s democracy.
