Despicable : Reports of Police Harassment Against Edo Youths, Resurfaces In Benin Metropolis
Officers of New Benin Divisional Police Station, conducting their usual vehicle checks at Eghosa Grammar School Close to Okhoro Road, have suddenly developed the habit of harassing and intimating motorists and young boys perceived to be “YAHOO Boys”.According to a reliable source, these police officers now search phones of these youths inside their Sienna Bus, a condemnable act that was part of the major reasons for the dreaded #EndSars protest held last year across the country.
However, a police officer named Mr Adamu Attahiru was said to have physically assaulted a driver (Name Witheld), at that same spot.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Philip Aliyu Ogbadu, should as a matter of urgency, caution these police officers who are bent on tarnishing the good image of the Nigeria Police Force.
