Digital Expert Reveals What Exposes Passwords Of Bank Accounts
According to David Dada, an information security expert, individuals who use free WiFi to access the internet unknowingly expose their passwords and other critical banking information to hackers.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily program on Monday, Dada emphasized that one of the fundamental steps in securing online transactions is to avoid logging into free WiFi networks in public places, as they pose a threat to user privacy.
Dada explained that when users connect to unsecured WiFi networks, their transactions can be intercepted and manipulated by others.
He highlighted scenarios such as using free WiFi at supermarkets, airports, or other public locations, where unsecured networks are often available. Logging into these networks can be extremely dangerous, as sensitive information becomes vulnerable.
The expert mentioned his ability to create what he referred to as an “evil twin” network, which appears to be free but actually aims to deceive users into unknowingly surrendering personal information. He emphasized that when users connect to such networks, they unknowingly trade their information for the illusion of free internet.
Dada stressed that even with security measures in place on mobile devices, accessing free WiFi leaves behind digital footprints that can compromise security. Therefore, he advised users to stay away from such networks, as connecting to them undermines the security measures implemented on their devices.
The information security expert also highlighted that phishing attacks and social engineering constitute about 90 percent of vulnerabilities that individuals face.
