Disaster Strikes Ibadan: Deadly Floods Leave Trail Of Destruction, Two Dead, Two Missing

At least two people have lost their lives following severe flooding that hit parts of Ibadan on Tuesday, according to reports from DAILY POST.

Heavy rainfall on Wednesday caused flash floods in Oluyole and Ibadan South West local government areas, resulting in significant property damage estimated at millions of naira.

Olanrewaju Kadiri, NEMA’s South West Zonal Coordinator, confirmed in a statement to DAILY POST: “After the heavy downpour that caused flash floods in Ibadan South-West and Oluyole local government areas of Oyo State on 24th September 2024, the NEMA South West Zonal Office, in collaboration with Oyo SEMA and the Nigeria Red Cross Society, conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the impacted communities.”

He further noted: “The flood affected residential buildings, shops, and destroyed property worth millions of naira, displacing many people. Tragically, two deaths have been confirmed, and two individuals remain missing.”
