Season 7 Is Here! Galaxy Music Awards Unveils Big Plans
The Galaxy Music Awards (GMA) has officially launched activities for its seventh edition, unveiling “Kalakuta” as the theme for the 2026 awards ceremony.
According to reports, the founder of the Galaxy Music Awards, Azubuike Stanley Amauchechukwu, said the platform has grown significantly over the past six editions, evolving from an emerging awards initiative into a respected institution that celebrates the contributions of artists, producers, songwriters, music executives, media practitioners, content creators, and other key players driving the growth of Africa’s entertainment industry.
Speaking on the theme, Amauchechukwu described Kalakuta as more than just a slogan, saying it represents a movement rooted in courage, originality, artistic freedom, cultural defiance, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. He explained that the concept draws inspiration from the revolutionary spirit that helped transform Nigerian music into a global phenomenon, while honouring creatives who continue to challenge established norms, push boundaries, and redefine success within the industry.
He also announced that the seventh edition of the Galaxy Music Awards will culminate in a live ceremony scheduled for Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Landmark Event Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Reflecting on the significance of the upcoming edition, the GMA founder noted that the awards were established to provide a credible platform for recognising outstanding Nigerian creatives, celebrating their accomplishments, and inspiring the next generation of talent. He added that the remarkable expansion of Nigeria’s music industry, alongside the worldwide acceptance of Afrobeats as a major cultural force, makes Season 7 another important milestone in the organisation’s journey.
Amauchechukwu further stated that the awards will continue to celebrate not only musicians but also the numerous professionals whose efforts contribute to the success of the entertainment industry. Since its inception, the Galaxy Music Awards has maintained its commitment to rewarding excellence, encouraging creativity, promoting cultural expression, and creating opportunities for both emerging and established talents across Nigeria’s entertainment landscape.
