According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian music star Augustine Miles Kelechi Okechukwu, popularly known as Tekno, has opened up about one of the most challenging periods of his life, revealing how a serious vocal condition forced him to refund more than $1 million to event organisers and left him struggling financially.

The award-winning singer disclosed that the health challenge disrupted his music career, leading to the cancellation of several performances and the return of payments already received for scheduled shows. He described the experience as one of the darkest moments he has ever faced.

Speaking during an interview with Cool FM, the 33-year-old artiste explained that the illness significantly affected both his professional and personal life. He said the financial strain became even more overwhelming after he was unable to immediately raise the money needed for his surgery, having already refunded huge sums to promoters.

Tekno revealed that relief eventually came through a performance in Cameroon that had been arranged about a year earlier. Although the show generated approximately $110,000, he explained that after settling all expenses related to the event, he was left with just $3,000.

Reflecting on the difficult experience, the singer said he refunded over $1 million due to cancelled performances and admitted that he still could not afford to pay for his surgery afterward. He added that despite questioning why the ordeal happened at the peak of his career, he chose not to dwell on the setback, expressing gratitude that he could still wake up each day with a smile and continue pursuing his passion for music.
