Presidency Fires Back: “Peter Obi Is Clueless Now

According to Ireporter Online, Obi had revealed in a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo that he personally reached out to the two former leaders during critical moments while serving as governor, noting that they responded promptly to his calls.

The former Anambra governor recalled an incident involving a major erosion challenge in Umuchiyiani, Ekwulobia, where a building reportedly collapsed, saying he contacted Obasanjo in the early hours of the morning while assessing the situation.

Obi also recounted seeking assistance from the late President Yar’Adua during a serious security incident in the state, adding that the former president maintained regular communication with him until the matter was resolved.

Reacting to the claims, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, criticised Obi’s comments in a statement shared on his official X account.

Onanuga described the former Labour Party presidential candidate as lacking clarity in his political approach, saying, “Obi was clueless then and is clueless now.”

Meanwhile, Peter Obi has stated that he is prepared to step aside from seeking public office if a thorough assessment of his records proves he is not qualified to serve the country.

The former presidential candidate maintained that individuals seeking political leadership positions should undergo proper scrutiny before being elected, stressing that Nigerians deserve the opportunity to examine the background and track record of those seeking their mandate.

Obi added that he welcomes any review of his past actions, achievements, and records, saying such assessments would enable citizens to make better-informed decisions during elections.
