Dogara Cheers Tinubu’s Tax Overhaul As The Key To Nigeria’s Economic Revival

Dogara emphasized that effective leadership, especially in times of transformation, demands bravery. He noted that Tinubu’s recent moves – from revitalizing local governments to initiating sweeping tax reforms – reflect a leader who is willing to take on tough challenges for the betterment of the nation.

“Tinubu’s actions signal a glimmer of hope. He is not a leader to shy away from hard conversations or avoid difficult tasks. Courage has become his trademark, and it could be the key to our national transformation,” Dogara stated.

Addressing concerns over the president’s tax reforms, Dogara made it clear that while he supports the initiative, he welcomes constructive criticism. However, he was critical of those opposing the reforms based solely on disagreement rather than offering viable alternatives. He argued that reform-driven leadership requires difficult decisions, not the avoidance of progress due to differing opinions.

Further, Dogara called on Nigerian youths to be at the heart of the country’s transformation, championing education, innovation, and collaboration with industries to build a better future.

The Pro-Chancellor of Achievers University, Dr. Bode Ayorinde, also emphasized the importance of industrialization as a pathway to economic stability and national prosperity. Ayorinde highlighted that industrializing Nigeria could create jobs, foster innovation, and reduce dependence on imports.

In her speech, Vice Chancellor Prof. Omolola Orinoye celebrated the university’s achievements, with 700 graduates and several outstanding students, while also affirming the institution’s commitment to fostering accessible education for all.

The ceremony concluded with the awarding of honorary doctorates to distinguished Nigerians, including Gov. Umar Bago of Niger State, Oba Adedokun Abolarin, and Dr. Fidelis Ayebae for their exceptional contributions to society.
