Don’t Travel Abroad With A Cheating Partner” — Man Warns On Love And Migration Choices
According to Ireporter Online, a social media user has triggered widespread debate after sharing what he described as personal advice on relationships and migration, warning couples against relocating abroad together if there are unresolved trust or infidelity issues.
The man, in a post that has since gone viral, cautioned that many relationships tend to deteriorate after relocation due to increased financial pressure, cultural adjustment, and distance from familiar support systems, particularly among migrants moving from Nigeria to Europe and North America.
He argued that existing relationship problems are often intensified abroad rather than resolved, advising individuals who have experienced infidelity in their relationships to reconsider travelling together. He also warned those already abroad to be cautious about bringing partners from home, noting that differences in expectations, lifestyle, and values often strain such relationships.
He further stated that character traits such as selfishness, lack of affection, and disrespect are more likely to become pronounced after migration rather than disappear, stressing that unresolved issues before relocation often become bigger challenges in a new environment. According to him, individuals should prioritize character assessment over emotional attachment when making decisions about marriage or relocation plans.
The post has reignited conversations online about trust, compatibility, and relationship stability among migrant couples, with many users referencing similar concerns previously raised by relationship counsellors during earlier waves of migration, where increased separation and divorce rates were reported among Nigerian couples abroad.
The discussion continues to generate mixed reactions across social media platforms.
