Drake Suffers ₦296 Million Loss After Backing Jake Paul Against Anthony Joshua

According to Ireporter Online, Canadian rapper Drake has reportedly incurred a significant financial loss after betting on social media personality-turned-boxer Jake Paul to defeat former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in their highly anticipated boxing clash in Miami.

The bout, which took place in the early hours of Saturday, December 21, in the United States, saw Joshua dominate proceedings from the opening bell. The seasoned heavyweight displayed superior control, skill, and ring awareness, eventually securing a knockout victory in the sixth round.

Anthony Joshua asserted his authority as the fight progressed, sending Jake Paul to the canvas twice in the fifth round. He continued his assault in the following round, landing a series of heavy punches that left Paul unable to recover, prompting the referee to halt the contest.

Ahead of the fight, Drake had openly disclosed that he placed a $200,000 wager on Jake Paul, expressing confidence in the YouTuber-turned-boxer via a post shared on his Instagram page. The rapper had hinted at high expectations for Paul’s performance going into the bout.

Had Paul emerged victorious, Drake was projected to earn over $1.6 million, an amount exceeding ₦2 billion. However, Joshua’s decisive win ensured the bet ended in a loss estimated at ₦296 million.

This latest setback adds to Drake’s growing list of unsuccessful sports wagers. Earlier in the year, the rapper was also reported to have lost approximately ₦451 million after betting on Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner during the US Open.
