Drama As Hunter Shoots, Kills Palm Wine Tapper Thinking It Was An Antelope

In Ondo town, Ondo State, a hunter named Sunday Olubusade is said to have killed a 30-year-old palm wine taper named Kehinde, whom he mistook for an antelope.

According to Vanguard, the victim went to a river to bathe after his day’s work when the hunter shot him.

When questioned by police, the suspect stated, “I was hunting and saw an antelope and shot at it.” But then I noticed a man on the floor and ran to the station to report it. I have no idea what occurred.

“Few minutes after the unfortunate incident, police detectives were invited and his remains were moved to the morgue.

“Immediately after the incident occurred, the police were alerted, and our detectives were mobilised to the scene, and the corpse was evacuated to the mortuary,” a police source told Vanguard.

“The suspect has been transferred  to State CID Akure for further investigation.”

Meanwhile, security has been increased in the town following an alleged possible retaliation attack by some groups of people who are said to be planning to avenge the victim’s death.

Funmi Odunlami, the state police image maker, confirmed the incident and said an investigation was underway.
