Edo APC Governorship Candidate Woos Women With Promises Of Appointments And Loans
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has said that women are assured of 35 per cent representation in his cabinet if voted to power in the September 21 governorship election in the state.
Okpebholo, who stated this on Saturday in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area during the party’s ward to-ward campaign, also said women would get loans to boost their business.
He stated that mechanised farming would be encouraged, 500 teachers would be employed in his first 100 days in office, and pipe-borne water would be provided for the citizens.
He urged the traders in the spare part markets in Uwelu and Evbareke to vote for him, promising to tar the road that leads to and from the markets.
He said, “I will make sure I tar the roads that go in and out of the market immediately after I resume office as the governor of Edo State because I know fully well that the spare parts market contributes to the economy of the state greatly.
“Developing the state is part of the dividend of democracy to Edo State and I will make sure I deliver it if given the mandate.
“I promise to revive the Bendel Breweries where we can employ youths from Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of the state. We will also employ 500 teachers in my first 100 days in office as well as provide pipe-borne water. There will be mechanised farming, as women will be given soft loans and a 35 per cent quota will be allocated to them in my cabinet.”
The Director-General of the APC campaign, Matthew Urhoghide, appealed to the electorate to vote for the party on election day.
Urhoghide said both Edo North and Central have all agreed with the Esan agenda, hence choosing Okpebholo as their party candidate.
He added, “My appeal goes to the electorate to give Okpebholo their votes on election day. We align with the Esan agenda of the Edo Central people, and everyone should come out en masse to ensure he becomes the next governor.
