Back In Action: Edo Assembly Reinstates Two Suspended Legislators Amid Tensions!

The Edo State House of Assembly has announced the reinstatement of two suspended members, Donald Okogbe and Adeh Isibor, after five months of suspension.

Naija News recalls that the assembly had initially suspended Okogbe (PDP-Akoko-Edo II), Isibor (APC-Esan North-East I), and Bright Iyamu (Orhionmwon South) on May 6 due to allegations of conspiring to impeach the House Speaker and other key officials.

Bright Iyamu was reinstated in June after showing remorse, as indicated by Speaker Blessing Agbebaku.

During a plenary session in Benin on Wednesday, October 2, Agbebaku announced that the assembly had reached a consensus to lift the suspension on the remaining two lawmakers. He also congratulated the state governor-elect, Monday Okpebholo, on his recent victory in the gubernatorial election.

The Speaker emphasized that the governor-elect represents all citizens of Edo, not just the All Progressives Congress (APC), and expressed hope that sycophants would not mislead him.

Additionally, while welcoming members back from an extended recess, Agbebaku thanked the lawmakers for their dedication to passing important bills and resolutions. During the session, the assembly also approved a calendar of 57 sitting days for the second quarter of its current session.
