Edo Governor Pledges Resignation If Tinubu Loses 2027 Vote In State

According to Ireporter Online, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has made a strong political declaration, asserting that President Bola Tinubu will secure victory in Edo State during the 2027 presidential election. In a recent interview with journalist Babajide Otitoju, Governor Okpebholo stated that he would resign if the election outcome in Edo does not favour the president.

Highlighting the progress achieved under the All Progressives Congress (APC) government, the governor expressed confidence in the state’s political alignment ahead of the 2027 election. “There is no opposition here in Edo, everybody is for Asiwaju in this state,” he affirmed.

The interview, which has sparked widespread discussion online, follows the recent unveiling of new state-level infrastructure initiatives under Okpebholo’s administration. The governor further acknowledged President Tinubu’s extensive popularity within the state, noting that it surpasses even his own.

“If he doesn’t win the presidential election in Edo in 2027, I will resign,” Okpebholo emphasized, adding that Edo residents are aware that his actions are driven by the president’s influence. He also criticized opposition figures, asserting that they lack support in the state.
