Executive Secretary Calls For A Swift Response For The Second Dose Of COVID-19 Vaccination In The State.
The Executive Secretary, Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EDSPHCDA), Dr. Eloghosa Obarisiagbon has called on the general public to go out en masse and be vaccinated for the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine for maximum protection against Coronavirus.
The Executive Secretary made the called during an emergency meeting she had with the Disease Control and Immunization Department of the Agency on the way forward to ensuring maximum protection of Edo people against coronavirus.
According to Dr. Eloghosa, receiving the second dose of Covid -19 vaccine, will not only boost the immune system but also provides long lasting immunity.
She stressed that the first dose of the vaccine primes the immune system, alerts it of the presence of the virus in the human body and create an antibody response. The second dose acts as a booster to ensure immunity is long lasting.
Dr. Eloghosa urged that proper information on the need for the second does of covid-19 vaccination be duly passed across L.G.A’s so that everyone who received the first dose of the vaccine can go to the nearest primary health care center near them to receive their second doses.
She mandated the State Health Educator, Mrs Irene Uabor to do the needful as regards proper information and behavioral change so that people can change their attitude and resistance against receiving the second dose of Covid -19 vaccination.
She noted that the state before now was at four percent(4%) fully vaccinated and eight percent (8%) partially vaccinated against covid 19 virus. Adding that in recent time, the improvement in Covid 19 vaccination rate has risen up to five percent (5%) fully vaccinated and nine percent (9%) partially vaccinated.
She further added that her administration is looking forward to further increase in the rate of covid 19 vaccination as she is set to match words with action
