Electrifying Change: Tinubu Ends 15-Year Blackout In Ondo South With Gigantic Power Project!
In a groundbreaking move set to transform the socio-economic landscape of Ondo South, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned a 132KV transmission line and a 132KV/33KV substation, effectively ending a crippling 15-year blackout in the region. Represented by Engr. Abubakar Momoh, the Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Development, President Tinubu declared the project a testament to his administration’s commitment to sustainable development and economic revitalization.
A New Dawn for Okitipupa and Beyond.
The Ode Erinje Power Substation, which draws energy from the Omotosho Power Plant, would light up over 2,000 settlements in five local government areas. Engr. Momoh emphasised that the project is aligned with the Federal Government’s fourth priority: unleashing energy and natural resources for sustainable development.
“This project guarantees uninterrupted power for Okitipupa and its environs, fostering business growth and lifting countless families out of poverty,” Engr. Momoh stated. He highlighted the transformative impact reliable power supply has on local economies, particularly in facilitating job creation and boosting small and medium enterprises.
Revitalizing Economies and Communities.
For over a decade, Okitipupa and surrounding areas languished in darkness, disconnected from the federal power grid. The economic stagnation resulting from this prolonged blackout stifled local businesses and hampered development. The newly commissioned transmission line and substation promise to reverse this trend, reactivating businesses and creating a vibrant environment for success and empowerment.
Community and Government Collaboration.
Engr. Momoh called on local communities to safeguard the new infrastructure against vandalism, ensuring its longevity and optimal functionality. “The government has fulfilled its promise; now it’s the community’s turn to protect this valuable asset,” he urged.
Accolades and Future Commitments.
Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa lauded the project as a beacon of sustainable development, marking a definitive end to the region’s power woes. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and ensuring stable electricity supply. The Governor also acknowledged President Tinubu’s leadership and unwavering support in realizing this project.
Chairman of the NDDC Governing Board, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, and NDDC Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the project’s significance within President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. They assured continued efforts to bridge infrastructural gaps and stimulate economic activities across the Niger Delta.
Celebrating Progress and Anticipating Growth.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including members of the Senate Committee on NDDC, traditional rulers, state legislators, and other eminent personalities. Their presence underscored the project’s monumental importance and the shared optimism for a brighter, more prosperous future for Ondo South.
As the power flows through the newly commissioned lines, the people of Okitipupa and its environs can look forward to a future filled with renewed hope, economic revival, and sustainable growth, all thanks to this visionary project facilitated by the NDDC under the Ministry of Niger Delta Development.
