Tope Temokun, Farotimi’s attorney, clarified the situation during an appearance on Channels Television’s “Inside Sources with Laolu Akande” on Sunday. Temokun explained that Farotimi has firmly denied sending Obi to seek a resolution with Babalola, contrary to rumors circulating after Obi’s visit to both Farotimi and Babalola in early December.

Farotimi had been arrested by Ekiti State police and transported to Ado-Ekiti for charges related to his book Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System, in which he accused Afe Babalola of judicial corruption and manipulating a Supreme Court ruling. Farotimi has pleaded not guilty to all charges and remains in detention while awaiting further legal proceedings in Ekiti, Abuja, and Oyo States.

During a recent prison visit, Temokun sought clarification from Farotimi about the purported mediation. Farotimi expressed disbelief that anyone would believe he had sent someone to beg for an out-of-court settlement, emphasizing his principles and long-standing reputation. Temokun, who shared Farotimi’s message, reassured the public that Farotimi maintains optimism despite the ongoing legal battles.
