Faces Of 2 Nigerians Extradited To US Over Exploitation, ‘Sextortion’ Emerge

The purpose of their extradition is to face prosecution for allegations of sexually extorting multiple young men and teenage boys in the Western District of Michigan and across the United States.

The EFCC initiated the extradition proceedings against the Ogoshi brothers and Ezekiel Ejemeh at the Federal High Court, Abuja Judicial Division, in May 2023.

This move was prompted by a request from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The suspects were accused of exploiting minors and engaging in the production of pornography.

Their modus operandi involved hacking social media accounts and impersonating attractive young women to lure unsuspecting victims into sending sexually explicit photos. These images were then used as leverage to blackmail the victims, coercing them into making significant financial payments.

Both the EFCC and FBI investigations revealed that the suspects conspired to carry out sex-based extortion against minors and adults in the United States. The Ogoshi brothers and Ezekiel Ejemeh were indicted in a US Federal Court on December 1, 2022. The charges against them include exploitation of minors resulting in death, conspiracy to sexually exploit minors through the creation of child pornographic images used for blackmail.

The accused individuals are also facing charges related to conspiracy to distribute child pornography, involving the dissemination of images to minors, their families, and acquaintances, as well as conspiracy to commit internet-based stalking. These offences carry penalties ranging from a minimum of five years to a maximum of 20 years imprisonment.

In particular, Samuel Ogoshi was charged with causing the death of a 17-year-old named Jordan DeMay from Marquette, Michigan, who tragically died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in March 2022.

While the Ogoshi brothers were arrested around the Ojo area of Lagos in February 2023, Ezekiel Ejemeh was apprehended in Nasarawa by EFCC operatives. The extradition of the third defendant, Ejemeh, is currently pending.
