‘False And Mischievous’ Edo Government Denies Allegations Of Unpaid Local Government Salaries Check Highlights
The Edo State Government has rejected claims suggesting that local government employees in the state are owed unpaid salaries due to an alleged crisis within the councils.
In a statement to Naija News on Monday, Fred Itua, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Monday Okpebholo, described the rumors as entirely false, malicious, and intended to deceive the public…….READ MORE
Itua urged Edo residents to disregard the misleading reports, attributing them to individuals who are envious of the progress made by Governor Okpebholo’s administration since it began in November 2024.
He reassured the public of the state government’s commitment to workers’ welfare, emphasizing that no government employee, including those in local councils, has any pending salary payments.
“All payments, including January 2025 salaries, have been fully made,” he affirmed.
Despite ongoing challenges in fund allocation, stemming from a legal dispute between the state and certain local government chairmen, the government has continued to meet its salary obligations to local government workers without delay.
“The commitment of Governor Okpebholo to ensure that no worker in Edo State faces financial hardship highlights his dedication to workers’ welfare,” Itua added.
The state government assured both civil servants and the public that it remains unwavering in its responsibility to meet its financial obligations and maintain workforce stability.
